Vancouver International Children’s Festival Volunteer Opportunities

The Vancouver International Children’s Festival is inviting students to help at their 40th Annual festival.  The Festival is hoping to have two types of student volunteers: those who volunteer during the Festival ➢ May 29 – June 4 (more than 1100 in 2016) and “Key Volunteers”, who help us (and their Work Experience Teachers) in recruiting, interviewing & coordinating these Festival volunteers at each school. Last year, over 80 “Key Volunteers” from various secondary schools in the Lower Mainland participated in this program.  For additional information, click on the link 2017-vancouver-international-childrens-festival

If you think you would be interested in getting some first-hand experience with as Key Volunteers, please email Diana Stewart-Imbert at dstewartimbert@childrensfestival.ca by Friday, November 25, 2016.  An ideal number of Key Volunteers is 2 to 4 per school.  The Key Volunteer meeting will be on Sat. December 10 (at our downtown Vancouver office at #301 – 601 Cambie Street) and then on a monthly basis (Sat. Jan. 14, Feb. 4, Mar 4, Apr 8 & May 6) through to our Festival with a final wrap up meeting Sat. June 10.  If you aren’t interested in the “Key Volunteer” initiative, please check back in the new year for information about volunteering.  Students from schools with no Key Volunteers will be able to sign up to volunteer individually at www.childrensfestival.ca starting March 1, 2017.  The Festival has a great variety of career development opportunities for students looking for a future in Business, Tourism, Early Childhood Education, Event Management.  The Festival’s Granville Island location is very practical & transit friendly.

Note:  District Office is not involved in the selection process for these positions.  If you have any questions, please contact Diana Stewart-Imbert, Festival Education and Volunteer Services Manager at dstewartimbert@childrensfestival.ca or 604-708-5655 ext 105.
