Over the years, VDSC has actively represented students voice and has built interschool connections through various activities. The VDSC\u2019s mandate is to provide student input in the planning and decision-making of the district. It is also an opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, work collaboratively with students from other schools on pertinent educational issues, and to learn about decision making and policy development.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 In 1997, student council presidents from across the city came together to form an \u201cAll Presidents\u2019 Council\u201d. By 2000, this project became what we now regard as the Vancouver District Students\u2019 Council (VDSC). By 2005, four out of the five standing committees in the Vancouver School Board had VDSC representatives on them, allowing student input on board decisions. In 2012, members of the VDSC took this a step further when they lobbied the Vancouver School Board to add a Student Trustee to the board.
