{"id":604,"date":"2019-04-24T03:49:15","date_gmt":"2019-04-24T03:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.vsb.bc.ca\/roudt\/?p=604"},"modified":"2020-05-31T04:06:11","modified_gmt":"2020-05-31T04:06:11","slug":"reporting-live-for-the-begbie-buzz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.vsb.bc.ca\/roudt\/2019\/04\/24\/reporting-live-for-the-begbie-buzz\/","title":{"rendered":"Weather Forecasts by our Junior Meteorologists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ff6600\">WEATHER NEWS<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The children\u00a0were super keen to use the Explain Everything app to create a short animation of themselves as TV Weather Reporters. \u00a0They were itching to see what they could do with this app to make their weather shows come to life!<\/p>\n<p>Every student first chose a black and white photo background as the backdrop to his\/her &#8220;onscreen&#8221; weather report. \u00a0The photo backgrounds that they each selected inspired the scripts that they wrote, to make their viewers understand the kind of weather they were highlighting in the news. \u00a0The children then drew cartoon versions of themselves as reporters (microphones in hand, no less!), and made their cartoon selves come alive right before their very eyes with the help of the animation tool!<\/p>\n<p>The final step was for the kids to record their read-alouds of their weather predictions. \u00a0I can honestly say that no one was more motivated to practise reading with expression and confidence than the kids!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WEATHER NEWS The children\u00a0were super keen to use the Explain Everything app to create a short animation of themselves as TV Weather Reporters. \u00a0They were itching to see what they could do with this app to make their weather shows come to life!
