Two Workshops!

Division 15 is participating in two exciting workshops!

First, Division 15 has been invited to participate in a songwriting workshop at the Moberly Arts Cultural Centre (MACC) on April 17, 2012.  The songwriting workshop is being led by the band GoGo Bonkers.  There is no cost for the workshop.  We will be leaving the school at 9:15am to walk over to the MACC and will return at 11:15am.  To see the band’s website click on the picture below.

Second, parents, inside your child’s agenda is a form for permission to participate in a workshop on acting.  It is being led by the Young Actors Project in our classroom on May 3rd, 16th, and 30th.  The cost is $13.00 for all three sessions.  Please complete the form and return it to me on Tuesday April 10, 2012.  I will not be able to provide change so please send the exact amount.  Thank you in advance.  To see the Young Actors Project’s website click on the picture below.

I’m really looking forward to both of these workshops!

Have You Filled A Bucket Today?

Yesterday our Youth and Family Worker, Mr. Baker, visited our class to share the book Have You Filled A Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud.

This is a wonderful book with an important message.  The book explains that everyone in the world carries around an invisible bucket.  Buckets carry good feelings.  You can easily fill someone’s bucket with kind words and kind deeds thus being a “bucket filler”; but, buckets can be emptied by “bucket dippers” who take out your good feelings.  Bullies are “bucket dippers” and bullies themselves carry empty buckets.  Most importantly, when you fill up someone else’s bucket your bucket gets filled too!  Now when Mr. Baker sees us around school he asks: “have you filled a bucket today”?

Constable Linda Visits!

Constable Linda visited our class on November 24, 2011.  She shared with us how Police Officers help in our community.  Police Officers keep the peace, protect property and uphold the law.  Constable Linda trained all of us to stand at ease, stand at attention and salute.  We then marched down the hall and back to the classroom wearing our Vancouver Police Officer shirts.  Thanks for the visit Constable Linda!
