Vermicomposting Workshop

UBC Students visited our class today to explain and help us create a vermicomposting bin for our classroom.  Vermicomposting bins contain newspaper, soil, organic waste (compost), and red wriggler worms.  We learned the worms are vegetarians and only eat fruit or vegetables.  The UBC students told us that vermicomposting is important as the soil created from it feeds the food we eat and makes the earth happy.  The soil the worms create will be added to our school gardens.
