Making it Rain

Today’s Science experiment used cotton balls, eyedroppers, and water.  First we predicted how many drops of water the cotton ball cloud could hold before it rained.

Next, in partners, we counted how many drops of water the cloud could hold.

Once the cotton ball was completely full, it could not hold any more water, and it let go and the water droplets rained down on the plate.

The cotton ball cloud raining is just like the rain that falls from real clouds in the sky.  It is the precipitation stage of the water cycle.
