LET’S BE A “NUT-AWARE” CLASS COMMUNITY!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Did you know that some students in our school have life-threatening allergies to nuts?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n What triggers a reaction can be different for each child.\u00a0 While some kids react when they ingest nuts, some react from touching surfaces that have traces of nuts.\u00a0 20 years ago, I had a student who would react even from smelling peanuts nearby!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n An outright \u201cban\u201d on nut products would be impossible to enforce, given we don\u2019t know how snacks and lunches are made\/prepared for every single student in our school.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So as a classroom teacher, I can only encourage families to refrain<\/strong> from sending nut products – if possible<\/strong><\/em> – out of consideration for those who do have life-threatening nut allergies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As a class, we will also emphasize the following to avoid cross contamination:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Collectively, we can make a difference by making sure every student feels safe at school!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thank you so much for your support!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" LET’S BE A “NUT-AWARE” CLASS COMMUNITY!
