LET’S BE A “NUT-AWARE” CLASS COMMUNITY!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Did you know that some people in our school have life-threatening allergies to nuts?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What triggers a reaction can be different for each person.\u00a0 While some folks react when they ingest nuts, some react from touching surfaces that have traces of nuts.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

An outright \u201cban\u201d on nut products would be impossible to enforce, given we don\u2019t know how snacks and lunches are made\/prepared for every single student in our school.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So as a classroom teacher, I simply encourage<\/strong> families to refrain<\/strong> from sending nut products out of consideration for those who do have life-threatening nut allergies.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As a class, we will also emphasize the following to avoid cross contamination: \u00a0NO sharing food ever, no matter how tempting it is!<\/p>\n

Collectively, we can make a difference by making sure everyone feels safe at school.<\/p>\n
