Lion’s Den is a proud part of Magee’s spirit and it began in 2002 in the newly built Magee building. Lion’s Den was originally started by the LALS class of 2002 and since then has been a key element of the Magee high school experience. Popularity grew rapidly with weekly Costco runs to meet the demand for snack such as chips, chocolate, candy and pop.
In 2006, the Lion’s Den Cafe was launched from the vision of Janet Park, a passionate Business Education teacher. With the new cafe came a new line of beverages and a fresh wave of excitement. The Cafe operated successfully until March 2020, when it was forced to close down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It reopened in January 2021 with the quarter system and safety measures in place including socially distanced lineups to ensure safe operation.
As of 2025, the Lion’s Den remains open and a loved part of Magee. It is open during FIT times and run by Entrepreneurship 12 and Marketing 11 students. It continues to be a legacy and environment where students can learn, lead and bring business to life.
