Students will use critical analysis to deconstruct art works and explore connections between art and society. Students will explore a range of materials, processes, and techniques that will be applied in their own art production. Students will also make connections between various works of art in personal, contemporary, historical, and cultural contexts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"495\"><strong>Area of Study<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"495\"><strong><em>CREATING AND PRESENTING<\/em><\/strong><em>:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Creative Process: Students will apply the creative process to create a variety of artworks, individually and\/or collaboratively;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Elements and Principles of Design: Students will apply the elements and principles of design to create art works for the purpose of self-expression and to communicate ideas, information, and\/or messages.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Production and Presentation: Students will produce art works, using a variety of media\/materials and traditional and emerging technologies, tools, and techniques, and demonstrate an understanding of a variety of ways of presenting their works and the works of others.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>REFLECTING, RESPONDING, AND ANALYSING<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Critical Analysis Process: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the critical analysis process by examining, interpreting, evaluating, and reflecting on various art works.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Art, Society, and Values: Students will demonstrate an understanding of how art works reflect the societies in which they were created, and how they can affect both social and personal values.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Connections Beyond the Classroom: Students will demonstrate an understanding of and analyse the requirements for a variety of opportunities related to visual arts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>FOUNDATIONS<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Terminology: Students will demonstrate an understanding of, and use correct terminology when referring to, elements, principles, and other components related to visual arts.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Conventions and Techniques: Students will demonstrate an under- standing of conventions and techniques used in the creation of visual art works.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Responsible Practices: Students will demonstrate an understanding of responsible practices in visual arts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"495\"><strong>Daily Supplies needed:<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"495\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Writing utensil (pen, pencil and eraser)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sketchbook<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Other art materials deemed relevant at the time of the assignment<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Supplementary art fee of $20 (optional)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"495\"><strong>Policies &amp; Procedures<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"495\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Create a Positive, Respectful &amp; Safe Environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Students are challenged to be open to a variety of different materials, artist and ideas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assignments must be handed in complete and on time to obtain mark.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Student attendance, punctuality, and participation essential for grade.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Students are responsible for making up missed work, obtaining class notes and completing missed assignments. Marks will be deducted for assignment handed in late.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attendance is important and will be recorded each period.
