{"id":1365,"date":"2013-12-12T17:30:02","date_gmt":"2013-12-12T17:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jo-online.vsb.bc.ca\/blogs\/jo\/martin\/?p=1365"},"modified":"2013-12-12T17:30:02","modified_gmt":"2013-12-12T17:30:02","slug":"biology-11-martin-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.vsb.bc.ca\/jsmartin\/2013\/12\/12\/biology-11-martin-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Biology 11 Martin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ecology project guidelines:<br \/>\nProject \u2013 Ecology \u2013 Biology 11<br \/>\nIn groups of 3-4, choose one of the following areas to research:<br \/>\n&#8211;\tOne endangered species<br \/>\n&#8211;\tOne endangered biome (rainforest, desert, etc)<br \/>\n&#8211;\tPollution problem and its effects on a particular ecosystem<br \/>\n&#8211;\tEffects of climate change on a particular species<br \/>\n&#8211;\tManagement of waste to reduce impact on a particular ecosystem<br \/>\n&#8211;\tResults of human population on humans (one particular problem)<br \/>\nIdentify what you would like to research, and be specific:<br \/>\n&#8211;\tWhat is the problem?<br \/>\n&#8211;\tHow do we know it is a problem?<br \/>\n&#8211;\tWhere is it occurring?<br \/>\n&#8211;\tWhat are side-effects of the problem?<br \/>\n&#8211;\tWill it affect other species\/ecosystems\/environmental factors?<br \/>\n&#8211;\tIs anything being done to address the problem?<br \/>\n&#8211;\tIf so, what is being done?<br \/>\n&#8211;\tWhat are your ideas on possible solutions to the problem?<br \/>\nPresent your research in a digital presentation format (prezi, powerpoint, etc) in front of the class.<br \/>\nPresentation must be 2-3 minutes long.  All group members must speak\/present.  Presentations will be on 18 December, Wednesday.  Test has been moved to after the holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Use powerpoint, prezi, or similar application, check with teacher for other options. The following sequence can serve as a guideline, though you are free to organize it in other ways. A total of 10 slides is appropriate, but you can have more (or less). Try not to clutter a slide with too much information.<br \/>\nSlide 1 : Title, names of group members<br \/>\nSlide 2 : Attention grabber, put a thought provoking question or image here<br \/>\nSlides 3-5 : Explain the topic, what is the problem and why is it a problem (do NOT copy and paste information from other websites, use your own words.) Include images to help explain your points and to make your slides more interesting<br \/>\nSlides 6-8 : Explain what can be done (or what is being done) to solve the problem.<br \/>\nSlides 9-10: What can one individual do to help?
