PAC Executive Openings for 2022/23 School Year
- Chair Person – organizes meeting agenda and chairs meetings
- Communications/Social Media – not a technical position, involves updating CONTENT on blog and social media

Item 1 – Student Updates Fatima Maje and Jacob Valinho
- Little Tree Club – community clean ups
- JO Cares – clothing drive bring donations to 1st block, donations to Covenant House
- JO Cross Roads – social justice and diversity issues addressed
- Investor’s Club – visited 14 elementary schools to talk about financial literacy, did stock market simulation, looking for speakers about financial literacy topics – could include real estate, business start ups, etc

Item 2 – Principal Report Brent Schieman
- Just hired TOC for Take a Hike Program
- Literacy/Numeracy Assessments for January were cancelled
- Rescheduled to April
- Grade 12 Literacy , Grade 10 Numeracy
- Make up assessments if needed in June
- Sports – hopefully things happen soon
- Mural Project between South Hill BIA and JO, will be putting murals up by Fraser 41st and Fraser 43rd on the fences there
- Walk In for MMIWG happened on Feb 14th
- Grade 10/12 Parents Learning Survey from VSB coming soon, aims for 95% participation in the survey, helps to guide school plan
- Please refrain from using parking area for drop off, check email
- Graduation – optimistic something will happen, grad council looking at venues for dinner/dance, District is talking to Chan Centre re requirments/Covid
- Auditorium is almost done, sound/lighting is complete, projector is here but having trouble hanging it, 700 seats
- Grad Photos are complete and yearbook deadline approaching, Mr. Steinruck is talking to individual students who are missing their photo
Questions:
Q Mini Program, what’s going on?
A Day trips allowed but only if vital, probably no overnight trips allowed yet, up to individual teachers will make call on field trips if allowed.

Item 3 – PAC Fund Disbursement (Corina)
- $20/student = approx $18k for 2021/22 school year
- November 2021- gathered requests from teachers, and clubs
- Distribution based on how many students benefit, the impact for the school image
- PAC Scholarships 4x $750 per student
- Corina read notes on the PAC Fund distribution to where/how much funds were distributed
- Discussion as to when teachers/clubs should submit requests for funds next school year
- Open in May to Oct 2022 for the upcoming school year
- Complete process by Nov 2022 so teachers & clubs know they are getting funding
- Gaming grant $ usually in account by Oct 15th so PAC knows how much money they are working with

- ($20980.00 gaming grant came through)

- Not much to update
- VSB will spend $1million to update HVAC/Ventiallation
- VSB 2022/23 Budget survey for parents coming soon
