As a prelude to our Desination Imagination challenge, I decide to challenge my students with an oldie but a goodie for fun and some team building.<\/p>\n

DI students and Mini 9 IT students tackle the Egg Zorb challenge. The students need to draw their team logo on their egg, then build a capsule to house the egg that will eventually go out the window and down to the ground.<\/p>\n

Lesson Plan Outline:<\/p>\n

Egg Zorb<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
Purpose:<\/strong><\/em> Discuss, design, plan, do. Team Building, time management, collaboration and communication.<\/div>\n
Time Limit:<\/strong><\/em> 60 mins<\/div>\n
Materials:<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n
1 – note paper<\/div>\n
1 – design sheet<\/div>\n
1 – egg<\/div>\n
1 – 1 metre piece of tape<\/div>\n
10 – 8X11 sheet of paper<\/div>\n
1 – electronic scale<\/div>\n
1 – tape measure<\/div>\n
1 – metre stick<\/div>\n

Challenge 1 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Decorate your egg with your team name logo. You must do so without smudging the colour unless it is on purpose.<\/div>\n
Make sure Mr. Su takes a picture<\/div>\n
Challenge 2<\/strong><\/div>\n
Research<\/div>\n
Design your capsule.<\/div>\n
You must present and discuss your method and rationale<\/div>\n
Challenge 3<\/strong><\/div>\n
Weigh your egg and record all measurement<\/div>\n
Challenge 4<\/strong><\/div>\n
Build your capsule and place the egg inside<\/div>\n
Measure the total weight<\/div>\n
Challenge 5<\/strong><\/div>\n
Measure height of fall<\/div>\n
