COLLÈGE BOREAL
We are pleased to announce that Collège Boréal is joining the National Essay Contest as French for the Future’s first collegiate partner. Collège Boréal is a Francophone College of Applied Arts and Technology serving Northern and Central Southwestern Ontario. The institution is offering scholarships valid for any one of its locations that provides post-secondary education (Sudbury, Timmins, Hearst, Nipissing, Kapuskasing, Temiskaming, Toronto, Hamilton, Welland and Windsor). New exciting opportunities for our participants!

CELEBRITY JUDGE – COLONEL CHRIS HADFIELD
Itbiohadfield’s a true honour for us to have Colonel Chris Hadfield as this year’s National Essay Contest celebrity judge. “Speaking French was a key part of the success in my career as an officer/pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force and as an astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency” says Colonel Chris Hadfield. “I think speaking both languages is important as a Canadian, both for mutual understanding as well as communication”. His pathway towards bilingualism and incredible career make him a model for every Canadian youth.

2nd Canadian Armed Forces Information Session

The Canadian Armed Forces Recruiting Centre in Vancouver will be hosting an information session on 16 October 2016 from 6-8 PM at our office located at 620 Royal Ave, New Westminster, BC.

This information session will focus on the various subsidized education programs we offer including the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) for subsidized university education and the Non-Commissioned Member Subsidized Training and Education Program (NCM-STEP) for subsidized college education. Although most of the applications we receive for these programs are from students currently in Grade 12, these programs are open to all Canadian Citizens aged 16-55 (depending on occupation and program) who meet the educational requirements.

This program is also available to students who are currently in University or College as long as they have at least one year of school remaining. This information session is a great way for students, parents, influencers, and anyone interested to learn more about the programs and the Canadian Armed Forces in general. There will also be an opportunity at the end of the presentation to ask any questions you may have.

One thing to highlight is that because our application process involves quite a few more steps (aptitude test, medical, security screening, etc.) than other post-secondary institutes, our campaign for starting school in the Fall of 2017 is in full swing. We have been accepting applications since the summer and the earlier someone applies, the better position they put themselves in as spots start filling up in February and the average application process time is 4-5 months.

Just a teaser…

Hi Students,
