{"id":10,"date":"2015-03-21T03:07:59","date_gmt":"2015-03-21T03:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.vsb.bc.ca\/heritage\/?page_id=10"},"modified":"2024-04-09T11:27:28","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T18:27:28","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.vsb.bc.ca\/heritage\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Background<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Beginning in 2004, a group of retired teachers and administrators launched a project to preserve the history and legacy of the Vancouver School District.<\/p>\n<p>This project was managed, and continues to be managed, by a steering committee comprised of retired teachers and school administrators. The committee operates under the authority and guidance of Vancouver School Board.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the goal was to establish a &#8216;heritage centre&#8217; that would be open to the public. Visitors would be able to view historical photos, documents, and artifacts to learn about the history and accomplishments of public education in Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>Such a centre has yet to be realized.
