GORDON HAPPENINGS<\/h1>\n

I would like to formally introduce myself as the new Principal here at Gordon.\u00a0 I grew up in Vancouver on the westside and attended both Kerrisdale and Point Grey.\u00a0 I started my career with the VSB in 1995 as a SSA and then moved into teaching in 2001.\u00a0 I am very excited to be at Gordon and already feel at home.\u00a0 The staff and students have been so welcoming and supportive.\u00a0 In these times it is a lot harder for me to connect with you as parents, but I invite you to say \u201chi\u201d and introduce yourselves outside before or after school during drop-off or pick-up.\u00a0 You will see me walking around the school.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In my previous schools I have done a monthly newsletter and I hope to continue that practice here at Gordon.\u00a0 I am in the process of setting up a blog site on our school website so information can be easily accessible.\u00a0 Stay tuned!<\/p>\n

I also have the pleasure of announcing that the school raised $3058<\/strong> for Covenant House through online donations.\u00a0 Thank you for your support!<\/p>\n

MASKS<\/h2>\n

With\"\" the increase in COVID case numbers we are more dedicated than ever to fo<\/span>llowing all the H<\/span>ealth & Safety protocols that the VSB and Pacific Coastal Health have put in place.\u00a0 Please continue to send your child to school with a mask and a water bottle.\u00a0 We would appreciate your help with this as the school has been providing a large number of masks to students on a daily basis.\u00a0 Please encourage your child to routinely take their masks home to be washed.\u00a0 Thank you to parents for also wearing a mask on school property and not congregating in large groups when dropping off and picking up your child.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CSL REPORT CARDS<\/h2>\n

This year, all teachers will be doing Communicating Student Learning or CSL reports using a new online tool.\u00a0 This tool will mean that report cards will be in a standard format and will allow for attendance to be uploaded more easily.\u00a0 If you are not familiar with these report cards, please have a look at the resources below or visit the VSB\u00a0website\u00a0<\/a>to learn more about your child\u2019s CSL report card.\u00a0 Reports go home to families at the end of January in paper form.<\/p>\n

KINGERGARTEN REGISTRATION<\/h2>\n

\"\"All children born in 2016 should be registered for Kindergarten now.\u00a0 Priority registration continues through until the end of January.\u00a0 Students who apply within this priority period will be accommodated before<\/u> late applicants.\u00a0 If you have registered online but not yet brought your documentation to the school for verification, please do so before January 31, 2020<\/strong>.\u00a0 To book an appointment please clicking here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Beginning\u00a0January 11, 2020,\u00a0<\/strong>you can apply for up to three choice programs (this includes French Immersion) through \u00a0our online application process<\/a>.\u00a0 To apply you must have completed your child’s Registration at their English Catchment School by the end of January.\u00a0\u00a0The application period for Kindergarten Choice Program closes on February 3, 2020 at 4 PM.<\/strong><\/p>\n
