Le Cafe Polyglotte

April is National Poetry month!  We have already enjoyed two celebrations of poetry at Coffee House this week.  Please come to the Library Learning Commons for Cafe Polyglotte at lunch on Wednesday April 17 and Thursday April 18 to share your multilingual poetry (thoughts, songs, writings, etc) with a small audience over some treats.

Gladstone now has Wireless access!

As a Gladstonian you can now log into the World Wide Web using your VSB username and password.  If you have forgotten your password, see your teacher as any teacher can assist you in resetting it.  If you have trouble accessing the internet this way, go to VSB Visitors and ask your teacher for the current password.

WE WON!!!

Yesterday we got the news from Aviva that Gladstone is one of the Grand Prize Winners for the Aviva Community Fund! The school received $50,000 for the Greenhouse Project.

The news made it into today’s Province as well! Many thanks to Mr. McCallion, Mr. Breslauer, Mr. Wallace, Ms. Mergens and Mrs. Solomon for putting it all together, as well as all the students, staff and others in the Gladstone Community who voted!

Check out the story in the Province: Vancouver school wins $50,000 prize to build its own greenhouse

Welcome Back!

We would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Keep your eyes out for new books in the Library, as more are added weekly.

Also, if you have any suggestions of books we should consider purchasing, write them down in the binder at the Circulation Desk.

Thanks!

National School Library Day and DEAR on October 22

October is Canadian Library Month and Monday, October 22 is National School Library Day!

On October 22, everyone will Drop Everything and Read (see the link for DEAR to the right)  for 20 minutes in Block 2-4. Remember to bring something to read for pleasure for that time. We have some new books that have just arrived in the Learning Commons; come and check them out!

As well, all day on  October 22 the Learning Commons will be hosting a Human Library (please see the link on the right for more information on the Human Library). If you are interested in coming, there are a few spaces available in the afternoon. Please see Ms. Parungao in the Learning Commons for more information.

New book suggestions

It’s been so great to see everyone coming into the Learning Commons to check out books and work on the computers!

Just a reminder that we are always looking for suggestions for new books. We have a binder on the circulation desk that you can write down titles/authors. It has a nice, bright, pink sign on the front, so you can’t miss it!
Thanks!

Mrs. Montroy
