SS 9 – Geography of North America – Mr. Li

Here is a copy of the project (in case you have left your copy at school!):

Geography of North America Project Outline

And here is the criteria for the assignment:

Geography of North America Project Criteria

You will be using Glogster to create an online poster.  When you are finished, email Mr. Li the URL for your glog so it can be viewed and marked.

We have created some sheets that are helpful when taking notes. On these sheets you can also keep track of your sources (this is VERY important!):

Notetaking Worksheet (Print Sources)    (use this one for books, etc)

Notetaking worksheet (Online)  (use this one for information you find online)

For images, we suggest you use ones that are freely available for anyone to use.  Here are 2 sites that are recommended:

Flikr       Wikimedia Commons

You can also create your own images (for example, the map of North America) and use a scanner so you can put them on your glog. There is a scanner here in the library for you to use.

Please be careful that you cite images correctly. We have a handout here in the library, as well as a copy here ( MLA 7 Works Cited Handout ) that has information about citing images.

You will need to make a Works Cited, 1 per group, that must follow the MLA 7  format (see the handout mentioned above).  This will need to be submitted on a separate piece of paper. You are required to have at least 1 book (not including your textbook), images, and at least 1 website. If you choose to use Wikipedia, you will need to have at least one more website.

There is a nice online tool that you can use to help create your Works Cited, called Easybib. The Teacher-Librarians will show you how it works. Please note that it is not perfect, and can sometimes contain errors. Please check all the information to make sure it is correct.

Have fun creating your glog!
