Mrs. Montroy and Ms. Macdonald will be going over with all of you how to find resources, both here in the Library Learning Commons (books on the shelves) and from the Databases that we subscribe to (on Webcat). We will also show you how to use Noodletools (a very easy and quick online citation generator) that will help you create an amazing Works Cited!! See below for details about setting up a Noodletools account.

Please take a close look at the marking criteria. In particular, note that you need to have a minimum of three citations (the image, the quote and for other general information). The citation for the image should be in your Works Cited as well as below the image itself. You need to try and have at least one book source, one database source and a web source (most likely your image or quotation).

To cite images using Noodletools: choose “Work of Visual Art” from the drop down menu beside “Citing”. If you click on the arrow beside “Work of Visual Art”, you can then choose from three other similar/related sources: Photo/Illustration in an archive (from a museum), Photo or Image Born Digital (an image that exists on the web only), or Visual Art Reproduced in a book (an image you scan from a book to use in your project). Choose the citation that best fits where you are getting your image from. Fill in the blanks, and please as the teacher librarians if you need help.

As well, please note that you should not need to Google your dissenter. Instead we would like you to use Biography in Context, World Book, and/or one of the books from the Learning Commons. Please let us know if you are having difficulty finding information.

To create an account in Noodletools: click on the link, then click on “Create a Personal ID”. Choose the first option (An account linked to a school/library subscription or trial), then “continue”. Then enter the following information:

Username: happyrock  Password: See one of the Teacher Librarians for this info

The Teacher Librarians will walk you through the next steps in creating a Personal ID.

You may submit this assignment as a word doc, either printed out or via email. Remember to also submit your Works Cited!

Have fun, and please remember to ask Mrs. Montroy or Ms. Macdonald if you need any help!
