Vancouver, BC – September 26, 2011 \u2013 Raincity Rap: The History of Hip Hop in Vancouver<\/em> is a ground-breaking event bringing together key individuals who have played integral roles in the development of Vancouver\u2019s hip hop scene. Created and presented by MISCELLANEOUS Productions as part of the official City of Vancouver 125th<\/sup> Anniversary celebrations, the event includes panel discussions, live music, dance and networking opportunities. Raincity Rap will be held on October 21st from 7-11pm and October 22nd<\/sup> from 4-11pm at the Moberly Arts & Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n

From Sol Guy<\/strong>, DJ Flipout<\/strong> and Ndidi Cascade<\/strong> to Jonathan Simkin, Chin Injeti<\/strong> and Red1<\/strong> of the Rascalz, Raincity Rap provides an opportunity for youth, industry members and Vancouver community members to hear the stories of these special guests and engage in interactive dialogue and discussion. An additional highlight includes a performance of the piece \u2018Clash,\u2019 from Kutz & Dawgs<\/em>, MISCELLANEOUS Productions\u2019 current musical in-development, composed by Raincity Rap co-programmer and panelist Ndidi Cascade.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cVancouver hip hop is an art form pioneered\u00a0by brilliant, complex\u00a0characters and includes\u00a0a vast range of expression,\u00a0from gangsta rap\u00a0that embraces libertarianism to political hip hop used as an organizing tool for social change and empowerment for Indigenous people and people of colour.
