Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians Welcome to the extraordinary 2020-21 school year!<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Despite everything going on, I am extremely excited to be here and teaching your child\/children.<\/p>\n

Please know that the VSB, School admin, and JO teacher are very aware of prioritizing the safety of students first.\u00a0 If you have any concerns please let us know.<\/p>\n

As you may already know the year has been broken up into quarters.\u00a0 My first term will be Art and Guitar (Please scroll down for the Guitar course)<\/p>\n

I feel fortunate that out of covid19 something good has happened, that being able to separate this block into 2d & 3d groupings!\u00a0 That said the 2D kids will meet in 301 and the 3D kids will meet in the Clay Room #115 (Near the east entrance on 41st near Fraser st- up the stairs from the Auditorium).<\/p>\n

Guitar class will also be subdivided into Group A Intermediates and Advanced and Group<\/b> B Beginners. Guitar class will be in the Guitar room #140 near the Auditorium entrance on the 41st side of the building.<\/p>\n

    The main emphasis of this course,\u00a0especially\u00a0at the beginner level is for each student to enjoy the learning process and feel good about their\u00a0achievement.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Curricular competencies we will be working with this year:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Explore and create<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Create two-dimensional (2D) artistic works using\u00a0sensory inspiration, imagination, and inquiry<\/p>\n

    Explore\u00a0artistic possibilities and\u00a0take creative risks<\/p>\n

    Refine artistic skills and techniques from a variety of\u00a0styles<\/p>\n

    Demonstrate active engagement in creating artistic works and resolving creative challenges<\/p>\n

    Intentionally select and combine materials, processes, and technologies to convey ideas<\/p>\n

    Reason and reflect<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Understand the purpose of a\u00a0critique\u00a0and choose when to apply suggestions<\/p>\n

    Students will need a sketchbook about 100 pages,\u00a0 8.5 x 11′. Metal coil or full binding best- please done by a 30 page glued sketchbook as they just fall apart…\u00a0 Often you can find good quality sketchbooks at your local dollar store.\u00a0 I also have Opus fully bound sketchbooks for sale for $10.<\/span><\/p>\n

    This year our course will be using VSB Teams and Face to Face interactions to handout\u00a0and collect assignments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Guitar Students: Mr. D Keller\u00a0 Block 1.2\u00a0 Course Outline<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Group A= Intermediate & Advanced in the Guitar Room
    \n<\/span>Group B = Beginners in the Guitar Room<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    You will DEFINITELY NEED A GUITAR AT HOME for the online portion as well as for daily practice.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    If you do not have a guitar you can borrow one of my OLD Classical guitars- they suck and are really hard to learn on… Did I mention they suck?\u00a0 I have about 18 of them and will be offering these guitars to the Beginner group FIRST, then to the Intermediate, and finally Advanced students.<\/p>\n

    Another option is to rent a guitar from Tapestry Music<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0 https:\/\/www.tapestrymusic.com\/<\/p>\n

    (FYI Tapestry has helped us out here at JO for years- They are wonderful and HIGHLY recommended.\u00a0 But, You are welcome to go anywhere you want!!!)<\/span><\/p>\n

    If you do want to rent from Tapestry. You can rent for the full-year or use the monthly option which is a minimum of 3 months.\u00a0 Our course will only be 2.5 months so the choice is yours.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
