The focus will be on the development of personal imagery, portfolio production, and one\u2019s individual approach to a finished product. Historical art movements and contemporary issues will be presented. A sketchbook is required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">DRAWING AND PAINTING\u00a0 9\/10<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This course is designed to allow students to begin to specialize in two-dimensional problems in the visual expression areas of drawing and painting. Historical and contemporary aspects of painting and design will be considered. Students are encouraged to use a variety of materials and media for their projects and may produce an acrylic painting on canvas.\u00a0 Personal imagery is encouraged in all the projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Digital Visual Arts courses<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">MEDIA ARTS 10<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Media Arts 10 is an exciting course in which students will develop their own artistic knowledge and skills by introducing them to current digital arts technologies such as Adobe CS4 (Photoshop and Illustrator) and various sound and Video authoring software. In this course student will use their own creativity to make images, both still and motion, and multimedia presentations which reflect their own perception and understanding of the world and society in which they live. An understanding of how to use digital cameras, recorders and scanners are helpful but not essential.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>PHOTOGRAPHY 10<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This course will provide students with the opportunity to capture, manipulate, and share digital <\/span>imagery<span style=\"color: #000000\"> and photographs. Projects will involve different materials, such as pencil, pen\/ink, charcoal, pastel, tempera and acrylic paints, printing inks, clay, and different mixed media, which may involve recycled paper making. Students may produce an acrylic painting on canvas. Through their artwork, students will develop critical judgments concerning their own art and the art of others. Historical and<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">contemporary aspects of drawing and painting, via film, art text, slides, field trips, etc, will be considered and researched. In addition, students will learn technical skills related to imagery theory as the operation of cameras and photo editing software.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">ANNUAL PRODUCTION 11\/12<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Yearbook Production 11\/12 is an advanced course in magazine, web page, and book publishing. Students will enter this course with a high level of maturity and computer sophistication. Students must be able to work in an extremely stressful, time-sensitive, team environment. This course uses Adobe CS4, InDesign Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat. Students are responsible for publishing the school yearbook and other major projects. It is recommended that students have a digital camera. There is a large leadership component to this course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/fliphtml5.com\/learning-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/yearboook-design-ideas-2-1024x503.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY 11\/12\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This course is a continuation of Digital Photography 11 and has been developed to help students explore the range of personal and social expression through digital photography and multi-media as a communication tool and art form. Students will be able to investigate the diverse opportunities and possibilities for related careers and interests. Students will learn photographic and compositional skills and learn how to apply them to different output or presentation forms: internet, slide shows, home videos, advertising, historical documentation, publishing, gallery exhibitions, and more. The course will focus on digital format photography and how they can be used presentations for art and communication. Students will make digital photographs and multi-media presentations. Students will be expected to develop an appreciation of photography and multi-media works and respond to them critically in an informed and responsible manner. Students having their own DSLR camera is an asset but not a requirement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY 11\/12<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This is a course about making computer games.\u00a0 How are computer games made? How are they networked? How are they marketed across Internet? From beginning to end in the development of games, each student will design a game, debug it, and market it. The software may include Java, Android, iPod OS, Python, Blender 3D Animation, HTML 5, Flash, CSS, Linux OS, GameMaker, Microsoft XNA, Photoshop&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Students must demonstrate creativity and a willingness to explore and navigate the world of Information Technology.\u00a0 This requires students to familiarize themselves with computer <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>ART FOUNDATIONS 12<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This course is designed for students who wish to continue art studies of a general nature. Students may experiment in several media and methods in five major areas of art, drawing, painting, sculpture (clay), graphic arts (printmaking), and mixed media (combining different media). Skills will continue to be developed in these major areas to further increase personal imagery, vocabulary, art history, and reasoned criticism. Assignments will be given on a class basis, but personal interpretations are expected. A sketchbook is required to develop personal ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">DRAWING AND PAINTING 12<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Students will further explore techniques and media in relation to two-dimensional problems as found in Drawing and Painting 11. Students will build on previous art and cultural experiences to help develop a personal style and approach to imagery. Students will produce at least one acrylic painting on canvas. For the more serious art student who has taken a number of previous art courses, more independent projects and study is encouraged. A hard-covered art book to develop personal imagery is required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">SCULPTURE 12<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">At this level, students will be expected to work independently and proficiently in various sculpture materials to create sculptural art forms. Students will be expected to keep a diary of ideas in their sketchbooks. The sketchbook is mandatory and will be part of their final mark. Also, students will be expected to display their artworks either as a group or individually throughout the school. The emphasis in this course is on problem-solving and imaginative and experimental responses to proposed projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">ART LEADERSHIP 12 Prerequisite: Permission of instructor is required.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">To be an Art Leadership student you must have a high degree of visual arts technique in the form of drawing, painting, mixed media or sculpture. Students who wish to enroll in this course must have taken at least one senior-level visual arts class, and must also get approval from the Art teacher prior to course registration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Digital Visual Arts courses <\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">MEDIA ARTS 12<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Media Arts 12 is a full year course designed to provide Grade 12 students with an opportunity to explore the art of digital media making through the use of new media technologies and related software and audio-visual peripherals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This course teaches students how to use the computer as an artistic tool and to expand student\u2019s creative abilities utilizing the digital gadgets they have around them &#8211; iPods, Digi-cameras, smartphones etc.\u00a0 Students will focus on their own creativity and passion to fulfill curricular goals that ultimately will lead them to <\/span>being<span style=\"color: #000000\"> life-long learners in the digital landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Students need to bring their own earphones and flash drives.\u00a0 Students are welcome to bring their own laptops or tablets.\u00a0 Previous computer experience is not required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">There are no course fees and no course book will be issued. Readings will be posted online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY 12\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This course is a continuation of Digital Photography 11 and has been developed to help students explore the range of personal and social expression through digital photography and multi-media as a communication tool and art form. Students will be able to investigate the diverse opportunities and possibilities for related careers and interests. Students will learn photographic and compositional skills and learn how to apply them to different output or presentation forms: internet, slide shows, home videos, advertising, historical documentation, publishing, gallery exhibitions, and more. The course will focus on digital format photography and how they can be used presentations for art and communication. Students will make digital photographs and multi-media presentations. Students will be expected to develop an appreciation of photography and multi-media works and respond to them critically in an informed and responsible manner. Students having their own DSLR camera is an asset but not a requirement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">ANNUAL PRODUCTION 12<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Yearbook Production 12 is an advanced course in <\/span>magazine<span style=\"color: #000000\">, web page, and book publishing. Students will enter this course with a high level of maturity and computer sophistication. Students must be able to work in an extremely stressful, time-sensitive, team environment. This course uses Adobe CS4, InDesign Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat. Students are responsible for publishing the school yearbook and other major projects. It is recommended that students have a digital camera. There is a large leadership component to this course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">YEARBOOK DESIGN 12<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Yearbook Design 12 is a second-year course open only to students who have successfully completed Yearbook Production 12. How are they networked? How are they marketed across Internet? From beginning to end in the development of games, each student will design a game, debug it, and market it.
