The electric <a title=\"Signal (electrical engineering)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Signal_(electrical_engineering)\">signals<\/a> from the theremin are <a title=\"Amplifier\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amplifier\">amplified<\/a> and sent to a <a title=\"Loudspeaker\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Loudspeaker\">loudspeaker<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The theremin was used in <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Movie soundtrack\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Movie_soundtrack\">movie soundtracks<\/a> such as <a title=\"Mikl\u00f3s R\u00f3zsa\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mikl%C3%B3s_R%C3%B3zsa\">Mikl\u00f3s R\u00f3zsa<\/a>&#8216;s <i><a title=\"Spellbound (1945 film)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spellbound_(1945_film)\">Spellbound<\/a><\/i>, <i><a title=\"The Lost Weekend (film)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Lost_Weekend_(film)\">The Lost Weekend<\/a><\/i>, and <a title=\"Bernard Herrmann\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bernard_Herrmann\">Bernard Herrmann<\/a>&#8216;s <i><a title=\"The Day the Earth Stood Still (soundtrack)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Day_the_Earth_Stood_Still_(soundtrack)\">The Day the Earth Stood Still<\/a><\/i>. It has also been used in <a title=\"Theme music\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theme_music\">theme songs<\/a> for <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Television shows\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Television_shows\">television shows<\/a> such as the ITV drama <i><a title=\"Midsomer Murders\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Midsomer_Murders\">Midsomer Murders<\/a><\/i>. This has led to its association with <a class=\"extiw\" title=\"wikt:eerie\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/eerie\">eerie<\/a> situations.
