An\u00a0icon<\/strong>\u00a0(from\u00a0Greek<\/a>\u00a0?????\u00a0eik?n<\/em>\u00a0“image”) is a religious work of art, most commonly a painting, from\u00a0Eastern Christianity<\/a>\u00a0and in certain\u00a0Eastern Catholic<\/a>\u00a0churches. Iconography<\/a>\u00a0is the use of images and symbols to portray a subject, movement or ideal. It can also be the use of certain symbols that convey certain genres such as religious iconography, iconography in art and iconography in film and television.<\/p>\n
