{"id":7904,"date":"2015-03-19T22:22:25","date_gmt":"2015-03-19T22:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jo-online.vsb.bc.ca\/blogs\/jo\/keller\/?page_id=7904"},"modified":"2015-03-19T22:22:25","modified_gmt":"2015-03-19T22:22:25","slug":"a-re-design-project","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.vsb.bc.ca\/dkeller\/dounut-media\/a-re-design-project\/","title":{"rendered":"A Re-Design project&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE GENERAL IDEA:<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re looking for illustrations of a new design aesthetic, theoretical and<\/p>\n<p>practical works which transcend the current commercial paradigm.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re looking for designs which are less product and more person<\/p>\n<p>oriented; designers who are designing not just the product, but the<\/p>\n<p>psychological and ecological aspects of the product-in-use.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SOME RE-DESIGN SUGGESTIONS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design a product (a cell phone, an elevator, a hot water tap) that makes people want to\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 use it less.<\/li>\n<li>Design to share: for example, a sidewalk lawnmower storage unit to be accessed by the residents of a whole city block.<\/li>\n<li>Design to change lifestyles: for example, a &#8220;carbonometer&#8221; that announces automobile CO2 emission volumes.<\/li>\n<li>Design a grassy typeface; a symbol for ecological footprint overstepped; an iconography for mental pollution.<\/li>\n<li>Invent a safe, portable, easy to install speed bump.<\/li>\n<li>Create a simple, recyclable, no-name sneaker that\u2019s cooler than Nike.<\/li>\n<li>Relax the pace of modern life&#8230; invent a time-adding devise, instead of a time-saving device.<\/li>\n<li>Recycle used materials into an outfit for next year\u2019s Academy Awards.<\/li>\n<li>Design a poster or commercial for any of the above concepts.<\/li>\n<li>Pick an ad you produced in your guilty corporate past and recant.<\/li>\n<li>Throw away this list of suggestions and realize your wildest dream.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE GENERAL IDEA: We\u2019re looking for illustrations of a new design aesthetic, theoretical and practical works which transcend the current commercial paradigm.
