As we started to discuss today our first large project will be about\u00a0expressionistic\u00a0faces\/bodies.

Take a look. and do yourselves a favor and google up some images, do some\u00a0research, finish off your 3 pages of small heads. \u00a0Remember your drawing emotion\u00a0so you do not have to be drawing in a truly realistic way.<\/p>\n

Cook\u2019en up a still life painting<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

In 1918, the metaphysical painter\u00a0Carlo Carr\u00e0<\/a>\u00a0wrote, \u201cWe have little time for those who tell tales of a new world every twenty-four hours \u2026 It seems sufficient to us that the artist should have a clear idea of what he is doing hour by hour.\u201d His clear idea was to depict the \u201csecret magnificence\u201d of humble objects. It is probable that the like-minded San Francisco painter\/printmaker Gordon Cook has been compared to ancestors like\u00a0Carlo Carr\u00e0<\/a><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Giorgio Morandi<\/a>, but their shared approach, balancing observation with a calm, measured poetry, is due for revival. Why keep a sketchbook?<\/p>\n

Many artists keep sketchbooks in which they experiment with ideas and collect drawings of their environment. Sketchbooks are like visual diaries for artists. Artists often use them for planning and developing their work.<\/p>\n
