{"id":479,"date":"2018-04-10T17:03:30","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T17:03:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.vsb.bc.ca\/aamartin\/?p=479"},"modified":"2018-04-18T17:01:40","modified_gmt":"2018-04-18T17:01:40","slug":"if-at-first-you-dont-succeed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.vsb.bc.ca\/aamartin\/2018\/04\/10\/if-at-first-you-dont-succeed\/","title":{"rendered":"if at first you dont succeed&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently had a student wanting to try making a ukulele in my grade 11 woodshop. \u00a0 Knowing nothing about luthering or bending wood, I dove down the youtube rabbit hole\u00a0 for some research and design.\u00a0 A\u00a0 staff member donated a rice cookr and I ended up building\u00a0 a\u00a0 chimney stack steam pipe. \u00a0\u00a0 I then tinkered for a week with bending attempts&#8230;\u00a0 many failures led me to add insulation to the pipe and increase the duration I steamed the wood before attempting to bend.\u00a0 .\u00a0 I finally had a piece come out incredibly supple on Friday. \u00a0 I had it in the form over the weekend.
