Volunteers Needed for March 11 Dry Grad (+ a few for Scavenger Hunt before)

Dry Grad 2020 is coming & you are needed!

Hi Parents of John Oliver Secondary, the 2020 Graduating class is looking for volunteers to help with the Dry Grad Celebration on March 11 2020.

A Dry Grad is an event which provides students with a safe, drug and alcohol-free environment to celebrate their graduation. It is a fully supervised fun event, sponsored by the PAC. Many schools don’t have dry grad because staff and parents are not as resourceful or generous with their time. We are so grateful to be at JO!

Volunteers are needed throughout the day (in 2 hour shifts) to help supervise a variety of events that are being planned including:

  • 2:00 – 4:00 pm – Scavenger hunt  – this event is currently being developed, and may include volunteering in different locations to be confirmed near Fraser street as well as at John Oliver
  • 4:00 – 5:30 pm – Grad BBQ Dinner and Guest Speaker – this event will be held in the cafeteria, and include setting up, serving food and other BBQ related tasks
  • 5:30 – 8:30 pm BC Event Makers Dry Grad in the Gym – includes inflatable games like bouncy castles for fully grown people plus more fun games

The Grad Committee is also looking for donations of hot dogs, hamburgers and fixings for the BBQ.

If you are able to help in any way on March 11th, please email the Teacher Sponsor Anne Alvares at aalvares@vsb.bc.ca.

Please be sure to indicate your name, contact information and when you are available to volunteer and if you are able to donate to the BBQ.

Deadline for volunteering is February 28, 2020.

The Grads Need YOU!
