Dear Parent/Guardian…

Monitoring Your Son/Daughter’s Academic Performance in Math

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This message is to inform you that you can monitor your son/daughter’s academic performance at home, including homework assignments, marks for quizzes/tests, and notes taken each class.

In order for you to monitor your child’s academic performance in class, you need an ID and password from me. These will let you log in to Engrade (www.engrade.com). Engrade is an online grading system that helps unify classroom management (gradebook, attendance, seating chart, discipline, etc.) and encourage communication with students and parents. If you need a login ID and password, please email me (Debby Kim) at dkim@vsb.bc.ca. I will send you the ID and password.

Please follow the instructions below to help you use Engrade effectively.

[Checking for the Current Mark/Grade]

  1. Go to www.engrade.com.
  2. Sign in using the ID and password given by Ms. Kim.
  3. You will see 3 classes: GP1, GP2, and GP3.

GP1 is for Term 1, GP2 for Term 2, and GP3 for Term 3. Click the class for the current term.

  1. It directs you to the page with the list of assignments assessed for the term with the score on the far right side. It also has a due date for each assignment.
  2. If your son/daughter has an ‘M’ for the score, it means that he/she is missing that particular assignment. If there is an ‘E’ for the score, it means exempt.
  3. If you click ‘Grade Details’ in the left-side menu bar, you can view your son/daughter’s mark in details.

[Checking for Notes and Homework Assignments]

  • If you click ‘Calendar’, you can download notes that I go over each class. Homework assigned each class is written on the last page of the notes. The files that have a link symbol  are notes, so please download to check if your son/daughter has done the homework for each class day.
  • Notes for Term 1 are in GP1 under the ‘Calendar’ section (from September to November), Term 2 in GP2 (from December to February), and Term 3 in GP3 (from March to June).

[Communicating with Me]
